September is coming to an end, and this will be my last post for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, but for our family, it will continue every minute, of every hour, of every day.
No one wants to put themselves in the shoes of a parent of a child with cancer, but please, just try them on for a bit - then maybe you will understand why we need help; and be that help. Maybe then it wouldn’t be so easy to overlook or ignore. Our children are worth more than 4%. Sometimes, as a Mom of a warrior, I want to rant about the inadequacy in funding and research; but I’m afraid to share that side - to let it out. Then I remember how important it is that we share our feelings with those who are not going through this battle; to help them empathize with how we might be feeling. #itcantbejustus #wishingthingsweredifferent #prayingthingswillchange #momofachildhoodcancerwarrior #gogold #childhoodcancer #childhoodcancerawareness #galaofmiracles #karsonstrong #teamkarson

I pray I am raising you with the skills and values you need to be the best you; to be a positive human being in this everchanging and challenging world. I continue to be so very proud of the person you are and who you are becoming; solid, loving, strong, resilient … you have so many wonderful attributes. You are growing into an amazing human being who truly cares for others and is not afraid to show your heart ~ you have the most beautiful heart😘♥️ You are my stars ~ my light in the dark. What you don’t see is that you are a shooting star 💫, shedding your beautiful light and strength on others; some of those you don’t even know. It’s my Warrior’s birthday today! ~ 14 Years Old ~ I don’t know where to begin… There’s too much to say so I’ll keep it short. Karson, my hero 🦸♂️, is the strongest person I know. He makes me want to be a better person; every day ~ He has made me a much better human being. No matter what life throws at him, he goes through it with a smile; like it’s no big deal - just a part of life. I’m thankful for every second I get to spend with him. 🙏💛🎗 Karson, my Warrior, my Hero & my Stars ✨, I’m wishing you an amazing year ahead full of love, growth and good health. 🙏 I love you more than all of the stars in the sky; always. I’m so very proud of you. We could all learn from your positivity, strength, endurance and resilience. Keep on shining my love 🌟. I’m so thankful God chose me to be your Momma. 👩👦💖 #blessed #mywarrior #myhero #BecauseofKarson #hewillalwaysbemylittleman💙 #ithankgodforhimeveryday We are so thankful to the North Country Chamber of Commerce for giving us the opportunity to share what we do with all of those at the Women in Business Summit at the Rainbow Banquet Hall.
It was so nice to meet the members of AdkAction and Heart Well Homestead, who were speakers on our panel for Women Lead Nonprofits. Through our discussions we were able to learn about the incredible impact these nonprofits are making. It was truly an inspiring day listening to all of the speakers. ✨ I’m honored to be a speaker for the panel on Women-Driven Local Non-Profits, at the Women in Business Summit tomorrow that the North Country Chamber of Commerce is holding at the Rainbow Banquet Hall.
Any of you that know me personally, know that talking in large groups is not something that has ever come easily to me. By the grace of God, and practice, it has gotten much easier. Hopefully this holds true for tomorrow. 🙏 While this isn’t something that comes easily to me, I’m so happy for the opportunity. Teaching, being a single parent and taking care of my family, and heading Hope for Miracles does not leave a lot of time for networking and collaboration. I am looking forward to sharing our successes and challenges, and hearing new ideas on how to strengthen what we have at Hope for Miracles, Inc. https://northcountrychamber.com/Calendar/Detail/503 For the most part, I’ve tried to stay off of social media this month ~ Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. As a parent who has watched their child fight, multiple times, this month is a reminder, and honestly, it’s terrifying. I don’t even like to look through my memories. Being reminded of statistics, others’ personal stories of their fight, the reminder that Karson’s surgeries/treatments always seem to be in the Fall, and that his next scan is a handful of weeks away.
Today I had to remind myself that this is why I have to get on social media and share… Even though all of these reminders make me anxious, I have to continue to share why funding for research is so important. We can’t help our babies without you. 🎗️ Tickets are now available for our Annual Gala! 💃🏼 🕺 Come out for a great evening and leave knowing you’re making a difference …
Remember, when you attend, you are helping us to fight childhood cancer🎗️. We will also donate 10% of funds raised to the UVM Children's Hospital. Help us to make miracles happen. ✨ 4 years ago today… Karson just lit up when he saw what his Uncle (Maurice Labombard)had done. 🥹 We are so thankful to Jamie Costa and The Essex Resort & Spa for their help with lodging.
So much to be thankful for… 🙏🎗️💛 But we can’t stop fighting!!! Day 12 of #ChildhoodCancerAwarenessMonth 🙏🎗💛
Parents of a child with cancer have no choice but to be strong. How could you help them? #noonefightsalone🎗 #supportfamilieswithchildhoodcancer We’ve had people walking, hiking, running and counting their steps through the day. We’ve even had animals participate. How will you do yours? 🎗️🙏💛
#ChildhoodCancerAwarenessMonth #teamkarson #runforacure These pictures of Karson were taken 4 years ago today. This is why I fight…
He was so ill from the treatment that time. He would tell me, “It's ok Mom, l'm ok" ... and then he would get violently ill. Even while being so, so sick, he wanted to make it easy on me; I don't know what I did to deserve him. #mymiracleman 🎗️💛🙏 I wish he never had to go through all he’s been through, but we are so blessed, and so thankful that he is now a healthy, happy teenager. 🥹 #ThankYouGod How will you help during this #ChildhoodCancerAwarenessMonth ? Please share 🙏 Calling all Coaches, Teachers, Principals and Superintendents! (Make sure to get your school’s permission… ) September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and we at Hope for Miracles are looking for ways to engage local schools in the fight for a cure! The challenge? ~ Help students to find creative ways to share our (HFM's) mission during this month. ~ Help students to find creative ways to fundraise for Hope for Miracles. 10% of this funding will go to the University of Vermont Children’s Hospital, and 89% will go to fund childhood cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering. ~ Share it all on social media and tag Hope for Miracles so we can see what you’re doing and share your hard work. September is a busy and exciting time for most. But for those fighting, it can be an incredibly lonely time. Help us to honor those students who are fighting and receiving treatments and can’t attend school or play their favorite sport. Help us to honor those who have fought, and help us to remember those who are no longer with us. How can you help? 🎗️🙏💛 If you would like more information, or ideas on how to get started, please reach out. Even pets can participate in our Run to Cure event… Go Bear~Bear!
#teamkarson #childhoodcancerawarenessmonth How will you support and honor the fighters, survivors, and those lost? 🎗️🙏💛
