Karson has spent many days and nights in the hospital, but I can’t imagine a child and family who is there over the Holidays… The holidays are supposed to be magical. As a parent, there is nothing harder than to see your child suffer. You pray for the times they smile. As a family, we wanted to help make children’s stays a bit brighter… and in turn, their parents. All it took was a quick call to Baird 5 at the UVM Children's Hospital and we were given ages and genders of children to shop for. Easy. I pray it makes their burden a bit lighter, the child hope, and the parents the best gift they could possibly receive during this overwhelmingly hard time ~ their child’s smile. I’ll never forget the days of Karson not speaking to either Cole or I after his first surgery… he was so broken and we had no idea how to lift his spirits and bring him back. Then this gentleman walked in and asked if he wanted to make paper airplanes and everything changed. I will never ever forget that man ~ or the gift that he gave every one of us ~ Karson’s beautiful smile and spirit back. We’ve done things like this as a family for years and I pray my babies will do the same with their families. One of my favorite traditions.
